The reason why i mention commercials is because i like watching funny ass commercials... here's a coupe of good ones...

Back on the LP lust...

After a quick yet fulfilling rehearsal with the Gafiera crew, I hooked up with the Kapitan (Umph) and banged out a rough track.  Following that, Delphi laid down five verses and we capped it off with a couple of brews...

How can one not admire the beauty of coincidence, the difference in human perspectives, and how seemingly random and opposing ideas result in an eclectic creation?

 You just gotta love it.

-------------
So, a lot of people probably won't care much for this little bit of trivia, but I'll post it anyways:

The name Tuesday was named after the Old English god Tiw, which is derived from the Old English "Tiwesdæg" and literally means "Tiw's Day."

here's a brief etymology:
Tiwesdæg, from Tiwes..."god of the sky,"...The day name is a translation of L. dies Martis "Day of Mars," from the Roman god of war...

For those who are looking to buy an iPad, and/or for those that already own one, Peter Kirn over at CreateDigitialMusic.com has made a nice roundup of the music apps that will be available. Peep it and feel yourself salivate...

Here's a few screenshots taken from his site:

That's it for now.  Signing off...

devirginizing mondays once again with delphi

popping cherries is the name of the game, and we have a whole field worth when it comes to stories from the different personas that make up MISC...

well just in case yall havent heard, i am kind of an athlete/rider... been lucky enough to be part and help develope wakeboarding in the Phlippine's. heres a little video clip of a good friend of mine, named Daniel Pyne who with me and a bunch of other riders from all over the world had the most epic wakeboard session right here in our backyard. This is the very first wake movie ever produced in the Philippines and I was fortunate enough to witness all this great riding. Just like music, this wakeboarding alternate lifestyle of mine is so essential to my well being and is something im down to share with yall. im not in the video myself but i have an interesting part in the extras of the DVD. so check it out, enjoy and watch out for our album, which will be coming out soon. peace

Bench Warming Bokal Vokalista on Free-for-all-Sabado

Very few things in this world could ever top Bacon.
Bacon is like Chuck Norris. Even when you beat Bacon it wins.
In the Miscellaneous tradition of good food, I, the bench-warming bokal vocalista, present the Bacon way of Life that might lead to a quick Death.

The
Original Bacon Explosion
The other day the guys from BaconToday.com contacted me in search for some barbecue bacon recipes.  Of course I have plenty of great uses for bacon in a barbecue pit, but the longer I thought about it, the more I wanted to step it up a notch and clog a few arteries for those guys.  Behold, BACON EXPLOSION!!!  Here’s what you’ll need…
2 pounds thick cut bacon
2 pounds Italian sausage
1 jar of your favorite barbeque sauce
1 jar of your favorite barbeque rub
To kick off the construction of this pork medley you’ll need to create a 5×5 bacon weave.  If the strips you’re using aren’t as wide as the ones pictured, then you may need to use a few extra slices to fill out the pattern.  Just make sure your bacon weave is tight and that you end up with a nice square shape to work with.
Bacon
Weave
The next step is to add some barbecue seasoning on top of your bacon weave.  Being the barbeque addict that I am, I whipped up a batch of Burnt Finger BBQ’s competition pork rub for this special occasion.  Seeing as not everyone has the time, or the expertise, to create a tasty rub of their own, I would recommend trying Cowtown Sweet Spot for the best combination. Plowboys Yardbird, Bad Byron’s Butt Rub, and Rendezvous Famous Seasoning are also excellent choices.

If it weren't for those darn pesky kids...

...well, we never would have evolved to what we've become.

We've been a music-making collective since late 2001, but more than that, it feels like we've been family for a lot longer. Yes, MISC was technically started back during the late 90s when Tibbz and DTech were rockin those Timbs and Fubu jerseys in high school.

The years blew by, the family grew, and so did all the experiences shared by this group of ragtag mischief-making boys who would make "Dumb and Dumber" look like a mere SNL short.

And maybe that's why our official first album has taken almost 9 years (and counting). Maybe because we've never forgotten that we're friends first....bandmates second. And that hanging out and supporting each other personally will always take shotgun to business.

But amidst all of that, the music was kept breathing, and the sound also evolved with every turn of the plate, every chug of the bottle, every torn out notebook page, every dusted off sample, and every bad-burned cigarette.

From our instrumental CD sets...turned into turntable medleys...turned into live band sessions...turned into the push-button MPC eletricity we now bring ya'll...

it's been one funky ass ride. So far ;)

Read the story here:

choosedays....

After a busy week, we're back on the album grind.

Yesterday was a quick session of thickening and mixing our tracks, and we finally have one locked down and ready for mastering.  Just a little more tweaks here and there.  And of course some much needed turntable magic.  Perhaps we will post a sneak preview soon.

Last Friday, was Nyko Maca's Gafiera gig at Martini's (Mandarin Hotel), and it was a huge success. Much love to Nyko and the guys for asking me to join her and the Gafiera crew.
  • Junji “Guitar Hero” Lerma
  • Francis “Wasak” de Veyra
  • Wowie “Saltfree” Ansano

What's The Agenda!?!?

Ok...you got Switch here for the Wednesday Report.

I guess seeing that this blog will be the official MISC page where all
content and other goodies will be fed and/or linked to, maybe I should
dedicatethis post to letting ya'll out there know exactly...
WHAT'S THE AGENDA!?!?

Yes with the album currently being cut, cooked, and plated for your palate,
it seems as if we still manage to keep ourselves occupied with our own "thangs" and do a lil' "somethin-somethin"

So here's what's up...

MISCELLANEOUS will be live and performing tomorrow (April 15 2010)@ B-SIDE along Malugay Street in Makati for another Locked Down night. We're taking a break with our album work to join our friends and label mates for a good night of music in one of the (relatively) new and organic venues in the scene. Check it:

Photobucket

Last time (and the first time) we performed at B-Side was for the Out of Body Special's "Delikado" video launch and the experience was electric. Comparable only to the sensation of chugging a whole pack of pop rocks with a soda chaser.

So we're really excited for this one ;)

..........

(In the most campy tv-shopping network voice) BUT WAIT...THERE'S MORE!

Ya'll know that we also DJ and dabble in other paint cans so here are the side/solo projects of the boys...

Photobucket

On Friday, April 17...Nyko Maca + Playground reincarnates the 70s carioca soul/funk movement, brasilipino style with our very own Tibbz hitting up the pads and samples!

They'll be rockin it at Martinis at the Mandarin Hotel from 10pm onwards.

Photobucket

And every Saturday, ya'll know what it is. It's SAKE TO ME BABY! happening at Izakaya Bar in Greenbelt 2. D'Tech, Switchtrik, and Umph on deck with special guest DJs serving up mixes of soul/funk/rnb/hiphop/club mayhem.

Check the STMB Facebook group:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=360531990428&ref=search&sid=1646251190.1590224756..1

Photobucket

And of course...our baby bread and butter...
PUH-LAAAYYY TOOOOZZZ-DAAAAYYYY!!!!
Every Tuesday at Cafe Mondial, Silver City, Ortigas.
Nothing but good old school hiphop/neosoul/funk/soul/disco from a rotation that features Tibbz, Switchtrik, Dtech and Umph.
It's all good people, good music, shots of crazy fun and one steady positive vibe.

Start penciling in your calendars and we hope to see ya'll at those spots!
Wow ok, I gotta jet outta this here post and get back to the grind...

Peace and love.

Miscellaneous! And we out like elephant pants yo!

Tuesdays with Tibbz

Dewey Redman - "Body"

quotes from "The Shadow of the Wind"

"All good things must wait. The female heart is a labyrinth of subtleties, too challenging for the uncouth mind of the male racketeer. If you really want to possess a woman, you must think like her, and the first thing to do is to win over her soul. The rest, that sweet, soft wrapping which steals away your senses and virtue, is a bonus....

"Poetry lies, in its adorable wicked way...show me a Don Juan and I'll show you a loser in disguise.""

"...until that moment, I had not understood that this was a story about lonely people, about absence and loss, and that was why I had taken refuge in it until it became confused with y own life, like someone who has escaped into the pages of a novel because those whom he needs to love seem nothing more than ghosts inhabiting the mind of a stranger."

Devirginize Mondays w/ Delphi: A Journey without a destination

So I the Delphi have been given the gracious task of taking on this first ever "BUH-LOG" for Misc... and I have to admit I'm kinda nervous due to several reason:

  • no one will read this wickedness

  • i might expose how shallow misc... can sometimes be by using words like "Wickedness"

  • you're mom might end up subscribing to this blog

  • keeping some sort of coherence and clear train of thought through the blog

  • oh shit im so cliché’

  • And finally finding a topic to discuss that will simultaneously arouse you're senses, strike a chord, open up your mind and re-evaluate your mind state, and get you to come back again and again to this blog so we can make money through advertising and get more attention to our music and make a ton more money off that and buy mega mall and turn it into a resort/concert hall and invite acts from all over the world to play etc etc and so on and so forth. “Sigh”Oh how fanciful would that be.

Moment of pause… hold it… day dream a little bit… hold it… now back to the blog.

Given these reasons I'll give it my very best shot regardless, and will start things off by asking; Where are you off too?

And yes its completely fine to say "I have no idea" because this is the case for most of us.

This is a question I have been asking myself for while, and I’m sure the rest of our group has as well especially over the last couple of months. As you may have heard through the grapevine of summers blistering heat Misc… is taking a journey with our music via the development of our very first full fledged album. Something that is well over due for us as a group, and is something we are dead serious about finishing and seeing through to the very end. Other than knowing we will have a product at the end of the road, we really have no idea where this whole endeavor will take us and that is quite an exciting and terrifying prospect. So many questions, both negative and positive, both shallow and deep enter our spheres of thought, all mostly pertaining to where this album will take us. And I for one am not afraid to say “I don’t Know.”

We have been meeting up weekly for recording and jam sessions to develop new material and are all super psyched about simply being part of the whole process. Beefing up beats and bobbing our heads along the way, laying down rhymes and stanking up the pop filter, adding new grooves to the scratches and cuts and just figuring our exactly what we want to happen in this album is a welcome relief from simply practicing for a gig and getting drunk afterwards. For instance the other day at DJ Umph’s pad we were figuring out ambient sounds to add to certain tracks, and it was pure magic how a little bit of a John Klemer sample randomly pulled out can take your body of work up a notch or two, a notion unanimously shared by all through the simple act of just smiling from cheek to check and saying “oh yah”. And its those very moments that encourage me to enjoy the process and the journey, because the destination and the desired end result is ever changing.

So there you go, that’s my attempt on devirginizing the MISC… blog, stay tuned tomorrow for Tibbz holding it down for Tuesday!!!

Peace
